Images of the Sierra

A few images of some of the most spectacular places in the United States, and quite possibly the world, within the Sierra Nevada. This first image, of Dinkey Creek, is the only image of the Western Sierra in my blog. It is one of my favorites because our family owns a cabin in the Western Sierra very close to Dinkey Creek. This image is of the highest peak in the contiguous United States. At 14,491 feet, Mount Whitney is the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada.(danblackburn.photoshelter.com)

Here is a picture of the Sierra Nevada range in Winter taken from the Owens Valley, along the 395 Highway.(sierranevadaalliance.org)

Here is a picture taken inside one of the most famous National Parks of one of the most noticeable climbing faces in the world. Yosemite National park is the most visited National Park in the world, and its famous Half Dome Peak is one of the most recognizable faces in the world. Formed millions of years ago via frozen glaciers moving, scraping, and tearing through Yosemite Valley, the giant, granitic, half dome shaped face makes up one of the Sierra's main attractions.
